These are clearly paintings of flowers, but they
are not representative of actual flowers. I named them all orchids
because orchids are so varied and abstractly exotic. I began painting
these small abstract flowers when I needed to work on a small
scale as I was recovering from back surgery and I couldn't lift
anything. Small abstract watercolor flowers became my solution
and I got so intrigued with these images that I have continued
to create these abstract flower paintings for the past year and
a half. The challenge for me has been to make the images as varied
as possible. Some of the paintings are fairly realistic, but others
are quite abstract.
